Job hunting...

Me a potential engineer, hereby waits for my results due soon. In this period I  am supposed to enjoy my vacations but I feel it’s a long, long sabbatical that I would indulge  in. This is mainly due to the curiosity to know about a “work environment” which exists in and around me, when I see people complaining of  work. It excites me to actually understand their reason of anguish at times which seems irritatingly acceptable, due to the current plight of economics… So… Back to my much needed and much wanted break from academics , I stand amidst this pool of classifieds, to choose a worthwhile job to earn a living.

Wanted “Engineers, copywriters ,teachers, secretaries, beauticians, BPO executives, tutors, medical reps, hairdressers, marketing executives “…But everyone wants an “Experienced” person. Now where does a fresher stand here?? Yeah, opportunities for them to exist but not in their desired field of interest… ( Reality of life !)

Hmmm…What is the first question that pops up in your mind huh?? Is it really about job satisfaction or honestly does remuneration only count??

The first reaction I get is “You are an engineer!! ( 4 years pay off ! )
You cant take up jobs for a paltry amount.!
Wait for your results, till then enjoy.!
                                       What will people say??....”blah blah..
Damn!!!! Why am I supposed to fulfill  whim and fancies of  especially people who hardly bother me. I am what I chose to be, not a product of the environment ,that I am supposed to accomplish your wishes….??Too blatant is it??

That’s  nothing but an outburst , a revelation of every under graduate’s plight. Many people regret their choice of profession immediately after the course completion ,because they feel they were forced to commit this hideous fault ,influenced by their family and well-wishers. Why then regret in the first place, move on…

Try a new career or work for building your own career path ,.sponsor your own education so that you don’t regret the rest of your life. For other clueless individuals ,please look up for a counselor  or do what is already planned for you.. as that’s what you have chosen for being so dependent and oblivious all your life.

For people who detest the point above, like to play the blame game claiming that it was destiny who is responsible for their state of disgust; while some happily adjust and go with  the flow, and mind you turn out to be successful too. What a convenient excuse isn’t it?? “Destiny !”And how comfortable have we become about our choices…..laudable !

Phew…

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara - * * *1/2

Imbibed with an amazing boost of frivolous , laid-back , hilarious  camaraderie & coupled with a pack full of talented actors how could one possibly go wrong! Especially when we have such a following for cult cinema , the bonus in this case is the magic created by the serene and breath-taking locales – in this case the never explored Spain , which leaves you spell- bound!

The most awaited movie , at least by me & fans of DCH and the ilk , ZNMD  deserves an ovation . The very essence of the movie is its simplicity (not to forget  , it comes with a big price tag) , and  the effortless portrayal of the characters and unlike the other new age movies, all the parts of the jigsaw fit in perfectly( refer the pasts of the leads ). After every movie, I sit down and love to think about it in terms of the story, actors , pros ,cons et al. But here the movie made perfect sense; the only thing I was left with was a hangover of Spain and  an ardent desire to just pack my bags and– “LET MYSELF GO”

Yeah I know I can be a little biased when in comes to  Farhan Akhtar , but  truly he doesn’t deserve any  favoritism. Trust me after the movie you will definitely vouch for the fact , that he is the soul of the film(credits to Javed Akhtar for the philosophical  & mesmerizing poems ).The flirtatious , poetic & jovial  lad played by him (Imran ) masquerading his emotional facet in scenes where he is on a quest for his father, the void in his life; seem natural .Brilliant.This is one role which is the best of the pack , tailored made for him adding the witty & comical moments in the film. All other actors also do a good job especially Abhay Deol (Kabir) , with his dimpled smile introduces some cute scenes- like in cases where its evident in the Senorita song ,that he struggles to dance , his childish pranks en route  in Spain, his baby talk accent in conversation with his girlfriend Natasha (Kalki). Arjun (Roshan) & Laila (Katrina) make a perfect pair & add  just the right amounts of romance as demanded.

The tomatina festival, the bull race, sky diving , scuba diving, & the beautifully choreographed songs are a treat, managing to grab ones attention by creating a sense of anxiety ,thrill raising adrenaline levels. The film can get a little stagnant at some points where you have an elaborate series of display of Spain’s locales time and again , and when the characters are in retrospection. But we definitely need to allow director (Zoya) to enjoy her liberty in terms of creating a tad too long  2 ½ hours film which could be made a little crisper . Anyhow her work speaks for itself and its  undeniably s a piece of art. The engaging and mesmerizing ZNMD would live up to your expectations as shown in the promos, and leave you awestruck  thereby tempting you to log in to makemytrip.com
So indulge in some Spanish flavor with ZNMD :  " Bon appetit ! "

Prophetic........am I??

Disclaimer: This post is  not  entirely a work of fiction.  Please spare the writer some liberty to try her hand at writing something she has recently caught fancy of: “self- importance” only for the following  reason listed below  :P :P

Time and again I always ask myself : “Am I a potential prophet?”  Preposterous as it may sound, please refer the disclaimer.. I think each one of us would have at least once encountered this feeling, when things go awry for people we forewarn: “Hey, I told you. You shouldn’t have done that” and may sometimes sympathize that person or people or, would share a secret satisfaction that at least now people will pay heed to your advice. Let me share a few recent instances that may help you know from where do  I  attain  my conviction…..

A lot of instances of my prophecy revolve around a troika   A, B, C (  among my closest friends). This is because they represent the  typical women folk - I don’t want to sound chauvinistic ,but still. Every time I tell them to be wary of something or recheck , they  tell me to not be too skeptical about things.& later I share my moment of glory of “I told you so…..blah blah”. There were a series of instances where “A” was highly exasperated when I explained to her my prophecy .She finally had to give in, not because she bought the fact but may be as she was fed up of my remarks. B accepted it and C , well had no option but to accept her faulty decisions. Other instances would be: the weather, college , or our much awaited project to name a  few  A recent joke in a tabloid supports me :

“People will accept your ideas much readily if you tell them that Benjamin Franklin said it first.”

.I think everyone experiences this and could possible claim to be one. This isn’t because they have had recent encounters of “divine interventions” ,but because they have decoded/guessed / concluded from past experiences the end result of such incidents.
This can be better termed as instinct , intuition and sometimes coincidences. To be recognized as a “fortune teller or  ”soothsayer” with limited skills and great chances of luck favoring your predictions ,you need to be vocal. If not, your audience will display nothing but exasperation or incredulousness as in my case  mentioned  above. Finally some food for thought”  : Check whether you too have prophecy imbibed in you or were you just  favored by Lady Luck.on a series of incidents that lead to the above conclusion .
Till d next time:

Virtual affinity....

In today’s world , our hectic schedule hardly permits us from meeting  our  friends, family, colleagues and associates in person. Unless very important, one has a  hoard   of excuses or rarely genuine reasons to  not turn up for personal meetings or social gatherings. But wait a minute if we are finding excuses to not  meet such people then why do we have their numbers in our contact lists, why do we have them in our so- called “friends list” on popular social networking sites ??? Its not the compulsion to be connected but the hidden insecurity that we somehow feel the  need to be connected to them, so that we can get in touch with them during testing times. Why do you think people have “contacts “?? Not because we want be known, not because we need them for favors, but because  somewhere we  are insecure about losing them……..

For people of the former ilk, internet is a boon. Social networking sites enable us to cultivate new “friendships”, reconcile with old ones, et al. But do we really need them?? When was the last time you actually called your long lost friend even when u found him/her online & asking for his/her number?? Or when was the last time you actually remembered somebody’s number without checking for it in your contacts?? Yeah these questions are the common ones which are often thrown by a  some anti-virtual –affinity guy who  feels that these sites are just about adding friends and keeping  a check on their updates , like one has no business apart from doing that. Yeah partially true, because the youth is a major contributor to the popularity of these social networking sites which enables them to upload pictures about their silly incidents throughout the day at college, birthday parties, trips et al. They are soo  sure about the online safety these social networking sites guarantee  to not misuse their pictures ,that they even post ridiculous, crass photos which  would even been given second thoughts for storing in our data storage.

This isn’t pessimism but an issue to be skeptical about, which we people have conveniently forgotten. We have become so complacent in life that we hardly ever question about what we are sharing online. I agree everybody has their right to make their own choices, but why complain later when you just need to give yourself   a  second thought when going online about stuff that you would be guarded about when somebody intrudes into your privacy. This is what we are lacking : to question our  thoughts . Though these sites are a boon seriously, I feel there should be a limit to everything. They sometimes make us feel soo safe that we even allow the acquaintances in our so-called “friends list” to pry into our lives. We need to add /accept people –the lesser known or mere acquaintances just because we share an odd number of mutual friends and so have this obligation ,thereby  accepting them..I don’t want to impose my thoughts over anyone here, but want you people to think over the reason  why  are we actually uploading stuff online, adding people we hardly know. Why?? Is it because we don’t want to hurt them, or we think we will need them or just because we can’t refuse….Yeah being staunch about something is difficult  today where hypocrisy dwells and diplomats are entertained…..  Are we doing this because we want to be noticed, or just because other people are doing it, or is it something absolutely necessary?? The least one can do if not completely refrain themselves from the clutches of virtual affinity is to, at least sort what to share and to whom if that personal.

On a lighter note, though these sites have to be also credited for its pros…but what about the cons??? Apart from what has been listed above the cons primarily include health issues due to are constant addiction to this virtual world, wherein one finds solace. This could be because the world seems to be  a little  place where you think you have access to all you need, all you wished for. People prefer online chats and discussions rather than meeting up not because they are distant but because its fun and moreover they get to enjoy the liberty of doing, saying whatever they please and all that jazz.. What a convenient thing, what an invention..!!

I can keep going on and on about it, but just give it a thought ... Aren’t you  spending long hours in the virtual world apart from when  being absolutely necessary??? What about online safety during sharing stuff online??What about reaching out to people personally who matter to you  than spending endless hours on the computer for idle gossip? I know I have listed factual stuff in my blog ,but this is what I felt like writing about today and giving you  my version of  food for the the mind and soul….......
Till the next time :

My first blog - First love

Comfort food for my mind & soul:

The first question which pops into my mind every time  I want to write a  blog is: “what do I write about” ?Quite a common one for someone who wants to write one and how? The excitement and the thrill of writing and  posting my very first blog haunts me every time I read one. So i thought let me give it  a try, so here it goes………

I  love food. That’s one thing in my life which I was in love with since birth. I am not a fussy eater at all and thus I can eat every thing that is edible.
Born and brought up in Mumbai explains my  foodie  nature to the fullest. So  I end up eating at  the streets, local joints,& yeah also in the fine dining restaurants, taking chances but enjoying the experience most of the time. The problem is ,am spoilt  for choices .This  doesn’t mean I am  a glutton, but only a  possible quencher of appetite with suitable standards of quality and strong believer of  flavors & value for money .

Food is an important part of every region of the world & in India one can find the most biggest variations throughout the country. This does mean the food is particular to a region, but with the diversity comes the followed migration which brings in its own new cuisine . Strictly street food comes with its own pros and cons. Quality, quantity, taste, hygiene and value for money counts the  most. Quality comes with a price, but this doesn’t mean that street food doesn’t maintain basic hygiene else there wouldn’t have been bizarre crowds in there. Also fine dining may sound glossy but wouldn’t every time guarantee fine food with the assured fine dining experience. But  let me warn you, not everyone has the instinct of  a gourmet !! So  most of the people indulge in their favourite gastonomical delights, thus satisfying their hunger and  moods than bothering about its elaborate procedures. The  emotions which one experiences  are varied as there are some who "Live to eat" and ""Eat to live".“Cooking isn’t rocket science” quite a clichéd quote is partially true if not completely ,as the savored delights sometimes do need elaborate procedures  This wouldn't be a matter of concern to the latter type, but for me it does,as I belong to the former ilk, truely a self confessed foodie.

See how the most basic necessity of life has become my object of fancy.  My love for food  is beyond words & hence it has helped  me to compose my very first blog .  A comfortable topic for my brain & soul which I finally agreed to write about. Not quite acquainted with the classical or rather the structured form of writing , my blog is an amateur attempt at beginning to write one. So in  the future would  write a better one if not polished ,about more things which  would tell you about the other comfort foods for my brain & soul ,
till then::
